Wedding in Dubrovnik Nataliya & Lowell

Wedding in Dubrovnik | Nataliya and Lowell are two spouses who left their mark on the hot stone of the monumental city of Dubrovnik. As the sun was slowly getting down into the sea, in the middle of the city walls, two souls connected into one. Colleagues, mentors, mutual motivators full of support, before all – friends, and today, finally, husband and wife – they decided to give each other their hands in marriage forever in the Dubrovnik wedding venue. After the initial wonderment of the guests concerning the idea of going all the way to Croatia for a celebration, family of the couple realized the value of unique destination weddings in Dubrovnik. The blend of culture, beauty of environment and Mediterranean climate in the city under the protection of UNESCO truly makes an unprecedented scenery. Dubrovnik weddings have been gathering enamored ones from all over the world for many years, as many have realized that the most important day of their life deserves to be spent in so praised tourist city. After enjoying the world-renowned Sheraton hotel, the newlyweds to be dressed up and headed to the old town. There is no better moment and place to recall common moments of love than during long romantic walk in Dubrovnik‘s main street Stradun. But there is a moment we all live for. The moment we step toward the eternal community with the person we recognize as the one we want to grow old with. For Nataliya it was especially emotional because she remembered her late father Alex. As her mother held her hand tightly and led her to the altar, Alex was with them in their hearts, proud that his daughter is stepping towards a trusting man like Lowell. Nataliya and Lowell said the fateful “yes” in the historic core of a centuries-old town, after which they were crowned with a laurel wreath, as the old Dubrovnik tradition imposes. Dubrovnik wedding planner knows he has succeeded in his efforts around the ceremony when he sees pleased family members and friends smiling and giving standing ovations to the newlyweds. After the ceremonial formal part, the wedding moved to one of the luxurious Dubrovnik terraces that are characterized by the breathtaking sea view. Nataliya and Lowell celebrated the foundation of their family on the walls of Dubrovnik, under the palm trees and the candle lights, long into the night. The happy couple held a welcoming speech inviting their guests to respect the old Ukrainian tradition. They encouraged their friends to give toasts and to raise their glasses together at any time in honor of a joined future of a husband and wife. The evening continued in a joyful relaxing atmosphere charged with emotions in the rhythm of the music and dance of the guests in front of the untiring eye of Dubrovnik wedding photographer. Finally, as Lowell’s father emphasized, the essence of weddings are family and friends. And when people who we love gather around us in a place that radiates the serenity and beauty of history such as Dubrovnik, the magic of two joining into one can begin.

Dubrovnik Wedding Planner – Yes I Du

FIRST THINGS FIRST Couples often do not know where to start. Due to the excitement, bride and groom usually focus on all those sweet details which require attention only after solving the key elements that form the basis of any wedding. ADVICE: The first step is to choose your ideal location, set a date and set the limits of your budget, as well as to decide the type of the ceremony (civil, church or symbolic) you would like to have.   COMPROMISE It is very important that both, bride and groom participate in the creation of the concept of the ideal wedding.  You can write down all your wishes and ideas on a piece of paper, and afterwards you should select those which are most important for both of you. It is important to leave some space for the wishes your parents, especially if they are financially participating in your wedding. ADVICE: Compromise is a key component in balancing the expectations, desires and possibilities.   FIND A LOCAL WEDDING PLANNER Be sure you know who is who in the process of planning, organization and coordination of the wedding day. If you have chosen the wedding planner to help you with the wedding, professionals will take care of all the details, you will have time to relax and spend quality time with your guests. ADVICE: It is hard to organize a destination wedding from abroad. Local wedding planners can save you both time and money especially when it comes to choosing vendors.   ROLES Your guests are guests, and we highly advise to engage business professionals for all the services. ADVICE: Many couples engage friends for certain roles on their wedding day (you have a friend who is a DJ or a friend who can take photos, etc.) and it usually results with disappointment because the guest will not feel as a guest on your wedding and you, on the other hand, will not have a professional person who can fullfil everything what is expected from him/her.   BACK-UP OPTION You have chosen a beach for your dream day. Everything is perfect, the sun is shining, palm trees look just perfect – and all of the sudden, it starts raining! And you? Do you have everything ready for the bad weather and unpredictable situations? ADVICE: Always be sure to have a ready back-up option in case of a bad weather.   MUSIC It is important to pay attention to the dynamics of the entire event. Music as the basis of each party must be diverse, adapted to the space and to the guests you have invited. ADVICE:  Make sure to choose a different type of music for the ceremony, cocktail reception and dinner.   PROGRAM Too long program and too many speeches within the formal dinners can have the opposite effect and ‘shut down’ entertainment. Each speech should not be more than 3 minutes long. ADVICE: Sitting down for too long and having many speeches which last for too long can ‘’kill’’ the party.   CONCEPT, DESIGN AND DECORATION You have lots of ideas and inspirations, but do not know how to tie everything together into a unified whole? Create a ‘mood board’ – all the details and ideas put into one place and pay attention that they are compatible. ADVICE: Design and decoration must be unified with the space where the wedding takes place and your wedding dress, hairstyle, make-up, flowers, cake and all details should be a part of this unified concept.   PRIORITIES Be sure to think carefully and define priorities – make sure that your budget is well distributed and that you have enough resources for those elements which are really important to you. Someone’s priority is good photographer, somebody else wants good music, and someone will ignore both of these elements and choose the best food and drinks. ADVICE: Choose your priorities and stick to them! Do not forget about each other during the whole process and do not neglect your relationship. Have time to enjoy a romantic dinner, or have fun with your friends … without mentioning the Wedding You are getting married because you want to celebrate the love you feel for each other. Let this always be your guiding principle. With this in mind, planning your wedding will be a real pleasure! Dubrovnik Wedding Planner – Yes I Du Your Dubrovnik Wedding Photographer

Dubrovnik Wedding – Eva and Greg

Eva and Greg Dubrovnik Wedding | Eva and Greg  met thousands of miles away from one other.  They spent time over the period of a year simply writing and exchanging thoughts on everything from mediocre importance like favorite foods and the news or of monumental importance like kids and religion.   Their words and their conversations turned into something more.  This courtship separated by countless miles became commitment.  A commitment from Greg to travel to Germany and a commitment from Eva to risk everything on this lumbering monster of a man. (lol) The first time they met in Germany during most would say the surroundings were unfit to stoke the fires of everlasting love.  Words like cold, harsh, unforgiving were used to describe the weather and surroundings that fall and winter, but Eva and Greg’s love broke through.   They suffered annoyance and happiness from the typical hurdles new couples’ experience, moving in together, learning each other’s rhythms, and encouraging each other’s passions. Inevitably Eva and Greg came to a major decision in their relationship.   Could they trust each other enough to welcome a new member of their yet to be solidified family?   The answer was yes and they chose the Dogo Argentino.  The Dogo Argentino is a beautiful headstrong dog that was developed in Argentina. The breeder wanted a dog that would exhibit steadfast bravery and willingly protect its human companions to the death.  This was really the true point at which Eva and Greg made an eternal commitment to one another.  Cooper their now two and a half year old boy continued to teach Eva and Greg the meaning of trust, unconditional love, and forgiveness the essential parts of any marriage and it is from his commitment to be at their sides, that they too strengthened their commitment to each other. Within a year of bringing Cooper into their lives Greg knew it was time to ask for Eva’s hand in marriage.  He nervously spent a day with Eva’s father Siegfried, mother Doris, and Brother Johannes to ask permission and was thankfully given it without incident.  Soon after Greg planned to take Eva back to the U.S. and ask the big question, but hardship struck at the worst time.  Greg’s Grandfather passed away and Eva was quickly thrown into a scenario where she would have to experience Greg at his worst and also his Father Richard, Mother Michele, and brothers Rick and Mike’s worst of times.  Eva carried Greg’s sorrow and fear as her own and through the sadness of this event, the beauty of two people promising their unspoken matters of the heart gave everyone glimmer of hope. The Wedding was set but, “Why Dubrovnik?” one would ask. Eva a German Woman and Greg an American Man had no connection to this city, no history with the Croatian people.  Their decision mimicked the tale of their love.  They simply fell head over heels in love with the city after only one trip there.  Their first visit walking in the old town, dipping in the Adriatic Sea, and sharing the unforgettable sunsets together mimicked exactly what the perfect wedding should have.  Dubrovnik has natural beauty and is a constant reminder of the countless couples who devoted their love to one another through time.   They declared their love in front of family, friends, God Almighty, and yes also Cooper eternally and forever on September 24th 2015. Engagement shooting on Vis Island

For many people engagement is one of the most important events in their lives. It is as important as the wedding itself so having any kind of memory of it is very heart warming and important. We would be delighted to make as many memories of your engagement as possible. The memories we can create for you are photographs and videos. There are thousands of great places to celebrate your engagement in, but today we would like to tell you a great story about Vis. It is the farthest inhabited island in Croatia, settled in the large Bay of Saint George and it has a very long history. It was established in the 4th century and for a long time has been the economic center of the area, as well as the military base. Island was long ruled by Old Greeks and also Republic of Venice. All rulers have left a great mark on the island which can be seen even today and it’s a great scenery for the engagement shooting. The last but not least important fact is that Vis island was once also the most important headquarter of Marshal Josip Broz Tito. Let’s also say that the Fort George is one of the most recognizable heritages of Vis island. It is settled at the hill close to the town Vis and it was built in 1813 by English army who saw this place as the great strategic spot. Today, this is the place where you can make all kinds of parties; engagement and wedding parties, all kinds of music and art events and even festivals. This is the place where you can enjoy domestic food and drinks, but also the atmosphere which is one of the kind. So, if you are seriously thinking about the place for your engagement party, why not think of Fort George? We must not forget the Blue Grotto as well. This is the cave located on the small island Biševo, very close to the town Komiža on Vis island. It is one of the most beautiful and recognizable natural spots in Croatia due to glowing blue light which appears at a certain time of the day, usually between 11am and noon. The cave offers great scenery for unforgettable photographs. Vis island is often described as a small part of heaven. It’s the place you simply must see when you visit Croatia and when you come once it is certain you will wish to come again. HERE you can see beautiful wedding on Island Vis

Short history of the wedding photography

The newlyweds are shooting a video in a tangerine field

Wedding photography is the form of photography related to weddings. It usually covers events a few hours (sometimes even few days) before the couple gets married and the ceremony itself, from the beginning until the very end. The art of the wedding photography evolved since the invention of the first permanent photograph in 1826 by Joseph Nicephore Niepce. Actually, the first official wedding photograph in the world might be from the wedding of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria in 1840. It is interesting to know that at first people didn’t pose for their weddings. On the contrary, they would rather pose in some nice clothes before and after the wedding and it was usual in the first part of the 19th century. In that old times it also wasn’t common to hire a photographer for the wedding. This tradition ended around 1860s, when more and more couples in love wanted a great memory of their big day and they started to hire professional wedding photographers. They would pose in the wedding clothes and photographers would also follow the whole ceremony. But it was a hard work since the photography equipment was very heavy and had so many parts at first. That’s why the first wedding photographs were mainly studio made. In the 1880s the technology became lighter and wedding photographers would follow the couple, their guests and even take photographs of the wedding gifts. And here we are at the beginning of the 20th century. This is the time when the color photography became available. But not to easy! The color photography was far too expensive and also very unreliable so the most wedding photographs were still made in black and white technique. After the Second World War the lightning and roll techniques became available and it was very common for photographers to come to the wedding, make photograph and sell them later, both to the married couple and the guests. It was still the time of the lowquality photographs, but the technology was growing really fast. We can say that the real modern wedding photography as we know it today, started in the 1970s when the wedding photography developed intodocumentary style, meaningdocumenting everything before, during and after the wedding, making memorable albums that will bea great reminder of the wedding for the rest of our lives.

Intimate Dubrovnik Wedding

Intimate Dubrovnik Wedding | For a very long period of my life I have been asking myself in concern – what if I meet a man of my dreams and it turns out he loves huge classical, traditional weddings? But then after a while, I realized that’s impossible! Guess what, I was right! My dreams about the perfect wedding have always been like this – sea, beach, sun, happiness, relaxation, smiles, no pressure, no obligations, no tradition, no fear, no prejudices… I really, really don’t like statements like: ‘That’s a tradition!’, ‘That’s the way things work!’, ‘That’s the rule’ and ‘Everyone does this, we have to do it, too!’.     So in the end, we had the smallest wedding possible. Why? We both wanted a very small wedding. A wedding under the open sky, beautiful sights all over, lots of flowers, many candles.. We’ve been working on this for about half a year. All have been pretty complicated, not only for us, but also for some of our guests. Nevertheless, it was a dream come true and I would like to share it with you. When it was time to decide on the wedding destination, it was very easy to agree that Dubrovnik is the perfect destination for our wedding story. Why? Simply because.. it is a beautiful town. This probably sounds cheap, but    it really is one of the most gorgeous places on Earth. It’s million times more beautiful place to get married than, for example, very popular Maldives. Maldives, like most of the other famous places in the world offer only the white sandy beaches while Dubrovnik offers much much more. You can have your own god mother and god father, not a hotel personnel that will work this assignment for you. In Dubrovnik your wedding is legal, not just a paper signed by the hotel wedding planner which you have to validate someplace else! Don’t know if you knew this before but on Maldives, you can only have your wedding photos taken there, but if you want a valid wedding, you have to do it someplace else! Don’t get me wrong. We can’t wait to go to Maldives, for our honeymoon! 😉 Our special day started just as an ordinary day would, without the anxiety, early hair do, make up, running around trying to fit the schedule. No, no way! Our wedding day started with a simple breakfast followed by the fun on the beach. Around 1 pm, the photographer called asking where to meet us. He was very, very surprised and shocked to realize that we’re at the beach, swimming and sunbathing. Yes, that was our plan – to get the photographer who will capture us the way we are, without hours and hours of putting on make up and trying to strike the perfect pose. From the beginning, we had a really great feeling about the photographers we’ve chosen. They seemed very trustworthy and just the right kind of people for my plan! We finally met at 2:30 pm, after just one simple hotel hairdressing. Make up continued in a room, in front of the cameras. I admit, I was a little nervous back in that moment! The make up artist took too much time for everything and it made me nervous because all I wanted was just a little make up and a natural look. But in the end, she did a great job and I have to congratulate her. Even the strong sun didn’t do any harm to my make up! Soon my beautiful flowers and my wedding bouquet arrived. What a thrill! Honestly, it was the most beautiful romantic bouquet I have ever seen! Peonies, small roses, house leeks… I adore house leeks, they protect us, they are decorative, in great green color fit perfectly into my pastel bouquet. And when the time came to put on the most important dress of my life I realized, no woman should marry without the real wedding dress. That dress gives the perfect feeling! When I first saw this one dress made by Mihano Momosa, from Novi Sad, Serbia, I knew right away that one day I want to get married in one of his dresses. The best part is that both of us worked on the perfect dress just for me for the most beautiful day of my life. Our wedding rings were locked in the padlock, symbolizing padlocks people put on bridges locking their love for each other, for all eternity. Yes, it is exactly what you think! I believe that we will chain our love in Zurich, at the river Limmat, place where my love ask me to marry him. Our wedding rings were designed according to our wishes and hand made only for us by my friend from childhood.  I fell in love at first sight to the place where we got married, too. When we got there and saw everything ready for the wedding, I cowered. I was stepping slowly with my god mother and then I saw my loved one waiting for me. I will never forget her words on our short path: ‘I will kill you because of this!’ Maybe this sounds funny now, but I knew what she meant because everything was so beautiful, romantic and full of emotions in the air that it was hard to believe we were are actually there. You think you are in the movie and have to make an effort not to cry! And very soon, we became Mr and Mrs. It is the best feeling, belonging to someone, not by birth, not by blood, not by nature but by your personal choice. Wishing to unselfishly give all you have! The most beautiful moments in life are usually hard to describe, but I have tried to express all the beauty and emotions. It is almost impossible to find just one word to describe all the emotions and happiness we had. We often want to go back to that day and feel everything

Weather forecast was tricky those days… During the morning, we arrived to sunny Dubrovnik. It hasn’t been long when suddenly it became like someone just turned off the light. The sky was overclouded and it was raining, even hail was falling. If you ask me, it’s not a problem at all…each wedding is special because of something so why this wedding shouldn’t be special because of a summer storm? I think the bride wouldn’t agree on this. Luckily for her, everything calmed down very soon and the weather became ideal for enjoying with friends and for taking photos. Stunning Wedding on Island Vis, Croatia

After we have posted video „Vis Wedding – Tanja&Rafa“, we didn’t have the chance to thank you for all these wonderful comments, messages and supportive emails. We fell in love with this amazing place and this beautiful couple. You must visit Vis! And now, enjoy the story told through our photos! Rafa and I wanted an intimate and relaxed wedding, under the blue sky, surrounded by trees, sea and closest family and friends. As we had many guests traveling from abroad (from 19 different countries!) we decided to make it into a little holiday getaway and sail everyone onto an island. Vis island is one of those well-kept Adriatic secrets. It has been a military base for many years, closed for tourists, and as a result of this seclusion, it resisted over-development and mass tourism, and remained a simple and authentic fishing and winemaking paradise. This peaceful oasis of raw, unspoilt natural beauties and rich history, 2 ½ hours boat ride from Split, and worlds away from the tourist hustle and bustle, was perfect for our little circus of love! WARM-UP Since our families never met, we organised a beach gathering a day before the wedding for everyone to get to know each other. We chose a private little beach in Stoncica bay, with abundance of shade and a sandy area for children to play in. It was a pure fun day of laughter, indulging in sea, sun and delicious local grilled delicacies from a beach restaurant, under the palm trees.   THE CEREMONY Probably one of the first things that you will see when you sail into bay of Vis, is a small, gorgeous peninsula with a Church and a Franciscan Monastery from 16th century. This is where we got married. Inside the walls of a little stone church of Saint Jere, built inside the remains of an ancient roman theatre. We kept the Church very simple and romantic, with colourful wild flowers tied around benches and candles lied down on the stone floor, leading up to the altar. We had the cutest little two-year-old flower girl, Sophie, who was carrying a heart-shaped wooden sign hand carved by my brother, saying: “Tio Rafa, here comes the love of your life”. My father walked me down the aisle with melodies of Jack Johnson’s “Angel”, played on ukulele by my close friend Matko. I didn’t know about this part, it was a surprise organised by my Maids of Honour and Matko… Hearing this very special song to us both, and seeing Rafa just staying there, calm and patient as always… waiting for me to join him at the altar, and into the life… I swear – time just stopped for a glimpse of a second. I felt like I took one deep breath in and didn’t exhale until I touched his hand and made sure this is real. Incredible moment to cherish forever. We managed to find a lovely Colombian priest who actually lives in a tiny village, deep inside Dalmatian hinterland. We talked him into coming with us to the island, and performing the ceremony in half Spanish half Croatian. This was a surprise for all guests, especially our Colombian family who were in disbelief when don Carlos started the ceremony in local Colombian accent. Rafa and I said our vows in both languages, which was a nice gesture and was appreciated by our families (as mine speaks only Croatian, and Rafa’s only Spanish) OUTFITS The dress is made of a beautiful vintage-like Spanish lace that we re-styled, added sleeves and cut the front (brand: Novia d’Art, model: Pekin, rented from Glamour Sposa in Split). After midnight, I changed to a short, cream, backless lace dress (brand: ASOS) that allowed more freedom on the dancefloor. Rafa was wearing Ted Baker’s mix and match – navy chinos, a light blue jacket, a delicately patterned grey waist coat, with a simple white shirt. He also had a pink handmade bow tie, sewn by our friend Rob (brand: Hound London). Maids of Honour were wearing identical short, lacy daffodil yellow dresses (brand: ASOS). Best Men were wearing traditional Colombian guayabera (white linen, plated shirt) and cream chinos. JEWLERY Rings were made two days before the wedding by my cousin, a talented jewellery maker from Split. They are both identical in shape and size, polished light gold, with engraved dates on the back and a special word for both of us. I wore vintage gold earrings that I got when I was born from my Godmother. Around the neck I had a beautiful golden Burning Sun necklace with a very special meaning about strength and eternity, given to me by my two amazing Maids of Honour on the day of the wedding. SHOES For the ceremony, I had simple sandals from Accessorize and boys were wearing white Startas – legendary Croatian handmade canvas trainers. Girls also changed into Startas later on, for the dancefloor, but in red colour. FLOWERS I was wearing a white gypsophila flower crown made by a local Vis florist. This incredible lady did a great job and made all the flower arrangements for the day. All flowers were picked from the island, mix of wild and grown, different shapes and sizes, very colourful, happy and summery.   THE VENUE http://www.fortgeorgecroatia.com/ When we first saw Fort George, there was no doubt in our minds that this is where we want to hold our wedding celebration. This absolutely magical 200 years old, medieval English fort is built on a hill, hidden behind thick pine trees, somewhat 3km from the town Vis. It overlooks nearby islands and boasts breath-taking views of endless Adriatic sea. On the top of the fort is a massive stone floor terrace where we had our welcome reception where we served finger food, our homemade “rakija” aperitif drinks and with Klapa singing. Later on, the guests were moved to Garden area, a beautiful green patio under the starlight and pine trees. Centre point of the venue is an incredible drained stone pool
