How Prakash and His Bride Followed Their Hearts to the Adriatic

This is our wedding story…

Our relationship started when we least expected it. We had known each other for some time, but it never occurred to either of us that something romantic might blossom. Then I heard a rumor — that Prakash liked me. I wasn’t sure it was true at first, but that thought changed everything. I began to see him differently, watching his actions through a new lens

What followed were coffees, conversations, and workouts at the gym. We shared time with mutual friends, bonding over food and long talks. And Prakash was kind — more than kind. He treated me with such warmth and attention that I quickly realized he was someone truly special. He wasn’t just ticking all the boxes — he was creating new ones I hadn’t even thought of.

Then our mutual friend told Prakash that I was “focused” on him. He began to see me with the same curiosity. Our friendship deepened into long walks and heartfelt conversations in the Royal Gardens near London. It wasn’t long before he realized that I was different, and he wanted to take a chance on something more.

In late April 2011, we traveled to Croatia together. As soon as we landed in Pula, Prakash fell in love — with the country, and by the end of the day, with me. Under the Croatian sun, he opened his heart and asked if we could begin a relationship. We talked honestly about all the possible challenges: race, religion, culture, and our different upbringings.

But love was stronger than any of those concerns. We made a choice — to move forward together, to trust in our shared values, and to grow something beautiful from our connection. A year and a half later, we were planning our wedding. An Indian wedding in Croatia — blending tradition, commitment, and pure joy — was the perfect next chapter.

Then he proposed. And I said yes.

The journey began, and the rest is history.
