Beach Club Hvar Wedding – A Photographer’s View of Island Elegance
Welcome to One Day Studio
We are Zvonimir and Danijela Kušec — a creative duo behind One Day Studio, where photography and film meet emotion, elegance, and timeless storytelling. Since 2010, we’ve been capturing weddings all across Europe and beyond, always guided by the same mission: to tell real love stories in an honest and artistic way.
Few places inspire us quite like Hvar. With its golden light, clear waters, and Mediterranean rhythm, it feels like the perfect island for couples who want their wedding to be both relaxed and refined.
This time, we had the joy of photographing a celebration at Beach Club Hvar — a venue that blends modern style with seaside magic. Through our lens, we captured not just how it looked, but how it felt.
When a Beach Club Hvar Wedding Becomes Personal
It all began with a morning email.
Exactly one year before the wedding, Millie — the bride — reached out. She had discovered our photography and video work and felt an instant connection with the way we capture moments and treat the people in front of our cameras. Her words were full of warmth and excitement, and I could tell immediately: this one was going to be special. After a few lovely email exchanges, we scheduled a video call — this time with both Millie and Gus. From that very first moment on screen, I knew I wasn’t just talking to future clients. I was meeting two of the kindest, most positive people I’ve had the pleasure of working with.
Funny enough, their wedding day happened to fall on my birthday. At first, I hesitated — I wasn’t sure I wanted to work that day. But something about Millie and Gus, their energy, their empathy, their enthusiasm… it felt impossible to say no. I knew I’d regret not being the one to tell their story.
And I’m so glad I followed that instinct. Not only did they take the time during their speeches to publicly thank us — something that rarely happens — but after their wedding cake, they surprised me with a birthday cake of my own. A moment I’ll never forget, organized with care, just for me. I was moved beyond words. This Beach Club Hvar wedding was more than a beautiful day on a beautiful island. It was a celebration of connection — and a reminder of why I love doing what I do.
A Quiet Gift of Confidence – Millie’s Boudoir Session Before the Wedding
The day before the wedding, Millie did something beautiful — something quiet, intentional, and completely hers. She reached out weeks earlier with the idea of doing a boudoir session as a personal gift for Gus, and she wanted the photos ready in time for the wedding day. But it wasn’t just about the gift. It was also about taking a moment for herself. A space to breathe before the celebration, to connect with her body, her energy, and the anticipation of what was to come.
There was nothing staged or overly posed. It was soft light, natural movement, and honest emotion. Millie brought calm confidence, a few delicate pieces, and that quiet smile that says more than words ever could. She wanted to surprise Gus — and she did — but what made the whole thing special was the fact that she felt amazing doing it. Strong, graceful, completely herself.
We don’t talk about this often, but maybe we should:
A boudoir session before the wedding isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being present. About claiming a part of the story just for you. It’s something more brides might want to consider — not because they should, but because they can.
Getting Ready in a Hvar Villa – Soft Light and Quiet Moments
Millie chose to spend the morning of her wedding in a private villa tucked above the old town of Hvar. The space was quiet, filled with soft natural light, gentle laughter, and the kind of energy that only happens when you’re surrounded by your closest people. Her friends and family moved easily around her steaming dresses, pouring coffee, helping with tiny details, while Millie simply enjoyed the calm. There were no nerves, just a sense of quiet anticipation and pure joy. The setting allowed us to move slowly and intentionally, capturing real moments as they unfolded. A hand on her shoulder, a glance in the mirror, the way her dress swayed as she took that first deep breath before it all began. Weddings often move quickly, but this morning felt different. It was slow. Present. Honest. And that made it unforgettable.
Gus Getting Ready – Swim First, Suit Later
While Millie spent the morning in soft light and quiet moments, Gus had a slightly different idea of how to prepare for the day. With the sun already warming the terrace and the pool sparkling just outside, he jumped in quite literally — with a swim alongside his closest friends.
No pressure, no performance. Just music, water, and a few laughs. It was the kind of moment you don’t plan but always remember. There’s something beautiful about grooms who don’t overcomplicate it. Gus got out of the pool, toweled off, and within minutes — suit on, hair still slightly damp, smile ready, he was set. Simple. Honest. Him.
Saying I Do at Beach Club Hvar – Ceremony with a View
The ceremony took place just as the sun began to dip, bathing the entire Beach Club Hvar terrace in warm, golden light. Waves whispered in the background, the air smelled like salt and lavender, and everything — truly everything — felt still for a moment.
Millie walked in with grace and purpose, the wind playing gently with her veil. Gus was waiting by the sea, calm but visibly moved. You could see it in his eyes the second he saw her — this wasn’t just a beautiful setup; it was their moment, unfolding naturally.
The guests, around 60 of them, sat facing the sea — a view that needed no backdrop. No arches, no over-the-top styling. Just the Adriatic, wide open behind them, and the intimacy of two people promising each other everything. There were tears, laughter, hands held tightly, and one of the most heartfelt vows we’ve had the honour of witnessing. And then came the kiss — simple, honest, full of meaning — followed by a joyful applause that echoed off the rocks and water.
It was one of those ceremonies that didn’t try to be anything. It just was. And that’s what made it unforgettable.
